Nature-loving homeschool mom embracing the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Passionate about nurturing wonder, curiosity, and character in the hearts of children. Leading a local nature group to help families slow down, explore creation, and grow together in community.

Victor Ruble

Instructor

Retired Marine and homeschool dad, sharing his love for the outdoors alongside his wife in their Charlotte Mason-inspired nature group. Brings practical skills like map reading, compass work, land navigation, and outdoor basics to enrich hands-on learning for families. Passionate about helping kids grow in confidence, resilience, and respect for the natural world.

Jerry Nissley

Naturalist

Retired private sector Aerospace Engineer with a degree in Computer Information Systems. 

Pursuing a life long love of nature and the outdoors, he completed the Virginia Master Naturalist (VMN) certification in 2019, and is currently on the board of the VMN-Fairfax Chapter. He is a member of the Northern Virginia Mineral Club, Minerals In Context (Geology group), and Friends of Huntley Meadows Park.

He currently volunteers as a naturalist, interpreter, and educator with Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) and the Department of Conservation and Resources (DCR - Virginia State Parks). He regularly leads nature programs at Huntley Meadows, volunteers with the FCPA Wonder Wagon, and is a kayak guide and nature interpreter at Mason Neck State Park.

Lizzy Cramp

Naturalist

Retired FCPS elementary school teacher. Growing up in Virginia & spending summers on the coast of Maine, created her love of the outdoors and nature. Lizzy is a recent Virginia Master Naturalist (2021) and a Northern Virginia Bird Alliance Wildlife Sanctuary Ambassador. She enjoys section hikes on the Appalachian Trail, kayaking, sailing, camping, traveling and creating art. But her favorite activity is being with her family, including her 4 granddaughters.

Malcom MacNeil

Naturalist Interpreter

Volunteer Fairfax County Master Naturalist and An employee of the Fairfax County Park Authority for the past seven years as an environmental educator. As a Naturalist Interpreter, he takes the information about nature and interprets with it, sharing the information in a way that is very easy to absorb. He loves working with kids, is a a father of two, and  very excited to share more about the natural world with everyone he can! Malcom's favorite animal is the North American Beaver. He is assisting with the development of a Foraging guide for the local area, and very interested in nature survival skills.
